Hello, I'm Kate! Welcome to my site. I am a professional online maths tutor on all levels and of all ages, based in Perth, Australia.

Maths, horses and the beach are my favourite things; and I am fluent in Ukrainian, Russian and English. I also have a Masters degree in Economics.

My students range from primary school right through to University level and are from all over the world.

So why me?

This is an important question! The tutor you choose for your son or daughter may well be a far more important decision that impacts their future than a lot of others you will have to make. Being your child's tutor is after all, not just another teacher; I will be your son's or daughter's own personal role model.

I have great people skills.

Parents who know their children well enough realise that developing the right attitude towards school work is of the utmost importance for them to perform well.

Children's mindset develops because of the people that influence their schooling. I think that a lot of my success with students comes from my natural ability to make them feel enthusiastic and motivated about new challenges.

My Qualifications

I hadn't always planned to become a tutor of mathematics; I came across tutoring after one of my neighbours asked me to help their child with maths homework. I was studying at Odessa university of economics where I attained a masters degree at the time.

After realising my teaching abilities and loving it so much, it seemed natural for me to find new students and I have been tutoring ever since.

I'm Thorough

I identify a student's weaknesses and take steps to strengthen them. That might mean going over maths problems with care and repetition, or helping them choose the right books; and if necessary re-teaching topics from scratch which they have missed or completely forgotten.

I'm Passionate

I am never happier than when I am teaching maths; after all, I have chosen this as my career. There is nothing more profound than to impart with knowledge.

Also! Being able to combine two of my passions in both mathematics and teaching has made a very fulfilling career path. I can't imagine that too many people have been so lucky.

I have great listening skills.

Listening is one of my invaluable skills. Being a good listener not only makes me more approachable to my students' who aren't shy about asking me questions, but also enables us to build great personal relationships.

By offering them my support and being involved in their development, I make them feel valued; this reinforces their desire to perform well.

My Expertise

My deep understanding of mathematics is paramount to being an excellent tutor, but having the skills to teach it is even more critical. I have been teaching students at all levels for over twelve years; this has given me a propensity to assess my students' abilities very early, and helps to decide where to start and at what pace to teach.

I also have experience using the Davis method, which is a highly effective, non-traditional program for dyslexia and other learning difficulties. It gives students the ability to use their natural strengths to overcome specific areas of difference.

For some of my students, I have been able to help them unlock real academic promise. The idea is to improve their maths by two or three grades over a year and eventually, with enough effort we can get them excelling.

The final exams mark the end of twelve years of school and the beginning of their chosen career path, so naturally, passing and excelling final exams is one of the most important things anyone has to do.

Parental Guidance

It is essential to ensure students complete homework. If you feel that you don't have the time to dedicate to your children, then I am here to lift the burden.

Building Relationships with Teachers

As observant and sensitive children can be, they're not the best interpreters of peoples behaviour.

Often the students who can't keep up don't get along with their teachers because they end up thinking that the teacher doesn't like them and can often rebel.

Helping a student keep up with the teachers' expectations can stop them from getting into this situation.

Motivation

Often a child isn't being challenged at school. So he or she may be bored.

Even if your child is a high achiever and just looking for something more challenging, then I will be able to help.

Confidence Building

Failure can feel dreadful for a child, and often their achievements go unnoticed at school; if your child lacks confidence because they aren't getting the positive reinforcement they deserve. Then I am what they need.

My friendly tone and enthusiasm for my student's success make maths a lot more fun and enjoyable; making it easy to stay motivated.

One on One Attention

I'll get to know your child's learning style, and I can adapt my teaching methods accordingly.

Also! Some students find it easier to concentrate without the distractions of the classroom.

Falling Behind

Even the best classroom teachers can't give each child all the attention they need to excel at Maths. So a lot of students tend to fall behind. That is often the reason why parents and students seek my help.

It can be difficult for students to keep up if they haven't understood the subject before the class moves on to new material.

Making Maths Fun

I have loved maths since I was very young. The feeling of joy I got as a child from solving a maths problem or acing an exam.

Maths is everywhere. It challenges the mind and can solve real-world problems. You can use maths to create art or to budget for your weekly expenses.

Try to imagine where humankind would be without maths. It is extraordinary!

Slow Progress

Because I can focus on one student at a time, we get to set the pace. So even if your child is doing well but needs time to sharpen their understanding and move through the work quicker then I can help.
